Our Day Service provision is an excellent opportunity for service users to benefit from a rural environment. We focus on developing transferable work-based skills which fosters and encourages the achievement of personal goals. By supporting service users to become involved in the day-to-day activities of a farm we are able to develop a fulfilled sense of achievement while building confidence, new friendships, teamwork, communication skills and problem solving skills. The service also promotes development and improvement of physical and mental well-being through therapeutic contact with animals. We have a wide range of different animals on the farm and animal care courses to suit all ability levels.
Day Services has a purpose-built Reception Centre and Day Services Office.
The Mendip Centre
Courses based at the Mendip Centre are designed to promote independent and transferable work based skills. Service users have the opportunity to experience various tasks and practices associated with a farm environment. This is designed not only to provide a rewarding farm-based work placement but as a stepping stone to finding potential employment.
The Quantock Centre
Courses based at the Quantock Centre are designed to promote teamwork and build confidence through the medium of arts, craft and therapeutic animal care. Service users have the opportunity to take part in craft projects such as candle rolling, seasonal gift making and glass blowing.
The Craftshed
Courses based at the Craftshed are designed to promote independent living and self-esteem. Service users have the opportunity to develop a range of skills in the kitchen and produce crafts and produce to sell to the local community.
The Blackdown Centre
Courses based at the Blackdown Centre are designed to be both sensory and educational. Service users have the opportunity to immerse themselves in and increase their knowledge of the farm and the local flora and fauna. This includes the preparation of jams and chutneys made from the fruit and flowers grown on the farm.
The Information Technology (I.T.) Suite
Courses based at the I.T. Suite provide service users with the opportunity to experiment with and learn about computer technology in a safe and secure environment. Sessions are tailored to meet individual service users' needs and aspirations.
