The Old Rectory was opened in 2005 and supports Service Users with predominately higher dependency including Autism and challenging behaviours.
At The Old Rectory we promote independent living within the scope of each Service User’s ability. We offer 24 hour care, which includes 2 Waking Night staff.
The home is registered for ten persons with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The age range is 16 to 65 and our registration category is LD (Learning Difficulties) with a variation in category to include Mental Health needs, and is a mixed male and female home.
The Old Rectory is a large detached, three storey, Grade II listed property set in grounds which include a large car park and a large secluded garden in the rural village of Chewton Mendip,
which is situated on the A39 and is located approximately 5 miles from the historic market city of Wells, 17 miles from Bristol City centre and 14 miles from Bath city centre.
We are in close proximity to Chew Valley Lakes, Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge, Longleat Safari Park and Weston Super Mare.
We also benefit from a regular bus service which runs approx every 30 minutes from Bristol to Wells and which stops directly outside the Home.
All our rooms include ensuite facilities. Eight of the ten rooms have separate lounge and bedroom areas, generating more freedom and privacy for Service Users.
We also benefit from a self contained flat within the unit, complete with kitchenette. This has been very successful in meeting the needs of individuals who have been unsuccessful in supported living style placements.
Within the home we have an on-site Spa/Jacuzzi bath and Sensory room to help Service Users unwind and relax, a large communal TV lounge with an adjoining games room with a pool table, table football and ping pong table for socialising, and a smaller communal TV/arts and crafts room which boasts Sensory lighting and a blackboard wall to encourage creativity.
We also offer a training kitchen for Service Users to build and improve their independence skills.
All our Service Users have structured programmes and activities to meet their individual needs. We have close links with Bendalls Farm which makes it very easy for Service Users to access our Day Care facilities.
Our Service Users are encouraged and supported to access community links with the local gateway clubs and disco nights and organisational events which include Pantomimes, Firework displays, Fetes, Boat rides, pink pig racing, parties and charity fund raisers.
