The Grange is on the Priddy Road Farm site alongside the Courtyard, Priddy Farm House and Meadowlands units. The building is a former farmhouse which was purposely designed to provide bespoke accommodation for 6 individuals who are on the Autistic Spectrum with complex behavioural and communication needs.
The Grange opened in May 2013 and forms part of an overall registration alongside The Courtyard, Priddy Farm House and Meadowlands. All Units are registered as one Service with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and can accommodate a total of 25 individuals in 5 separate properties. Our registration category is LD (Learning Disabilities), with a variation in category to include Mental Health needs. The age range is 18-65 years old.
Accommodation at The Grange consists of six modern, independent flats, each containing a kitchen, living area, bedroom and wet room bathrooms. All are fully furnished with space for Service Users to personalise them to their own tastes.
The ground floor accommodation was designed explicitly with 2 individuals in mind. Both the individuals, their parents and the funding authority were involved from the design stage. Adaptions in the flats included sensor controlled showers, lights which included mood dimmers, tiled floors and wet rooms, flush electrical sockets and secure private gardens. All flats have a key fob system for easy access to further promote independence.
The six individuals at The Grange have high levels of support for their day to day living, however they lead a fulfilled life performing meaningful activities of their choosing. All staff working at The Grange undertake PEC’s (Picture Exchange Communication System) training and use a range of other communication tools such as scheduling and Makaton to enable effective communication to help promote choice and decision making. The Service Users also have the opportunity to attend the wide Bendalls Farm Day Services facilities and can experience activities such as working hands on with our animals.
