Bradbury House supports service users who have predominately high dependency needs, require a degree of physical care and have limited communication skills.
Many of the service users have previously lived in long-stay institutions and display behaviours in accordance with this type of environment. Other service users are diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorders, all are profound or severe.
The home was first opened in January 1992 and is registered for eleven persons with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The age range is 18 to 65 and our registration category is LD (learning difficulties) with a variation in category to include support for mental health needs.
Located in Brislington, approximately one and half miles south east of Bristol city centre. Bradbury house is a semi-detached, two storey property plus attic conversion. Dating in part from the 17th century it is a Grade II listed building. The property also offers a secluded garden and car park.
Within the grounds of Bradbruy House is situated a smaller four bedded home which provides a more independant enviroment for service users who are less dependant and have greater communciation skills. This home has a ‘family feel’ and service users are expected to contribute towards the running of the house. Service users are supported in cooking their own meals, washing their own laundry, managing their own finances and generally themselves within the home enviroment. Currently this is an all female home.
The two homes are registered under one registration certificate.
Also within the grounds of Bradbury House is a day-care centre, which provides activities for both the service users living within the home environment and several external service users.
