The Blackdown Centre is located next to Bendalls Farm house. The sessions on offer here give the service users a chance to immerse themselves in sensory experiences and to increase their knowledge of the farm and local flora and fauna. Activities on offer here include walks around the farm grounds and the surrounding Mendip hills, looking out for wild animals and birds, finger painting and hands on projects such as making ceramic mosaics, fashioning collages from leaves and twigs, hand rolling bees wax candles and the fashioning of glass placemats and jewellery/ornaments. Other activities include preparation of jams, chutneys and elderflower cordial, all from fruit and flowers found or grown on the farm. The group sessions based here often contribute to the making of decorations for various seasonal events such as Halloween, Easter and Christmas. Service users are encouraged to show their artistic side whilst promoting life skills and independence.
